I Am Big Joe Walker Released!
On Tuesday, a large new presence cast its substantial shadow on the Texas country
music scene with the release of I Am Big Joe Walker. The 5-song album on Kayak
Records announces, in a resonant and commanding voice, the debut of its namesake
“This sounds on this disc come from my musical roots and from everything I’ve
picked up over the past decade of playing in bands in Texas,” said Walker.
Fans can purchase the music immediately in downloaded or physical form at most
online music stores, including iTunes, Rhapsody, Shazam, Amazon, Google Play,
and Xbox Music Store. Walker will also sell discs at his live performances and

With titles like “Heartache” and “Friday Night in Texas,” the songs cover some
traditional ground, but also include some innovative touches. Walker has played in
bands that incorporate styles from country to rock to disco and he pulled from all of
his influences to create the music on his new collection.
“I wrote more than 40 songs before deciding to record the ones I thought represented
me the best,” said Big Joe. “Then I found some great musicians to back me up on
The lineup includes Milo Deering (LeeAnn Rimes, Jack Ingram) playing acoustic
guitar, fiddle, and steel guitar; John Carroll (Cory Morrow, Jim Lauderdale) on lead
guitar, bassist Dave DeShazo, Nate Coon playing drums, Bradley Knight on organ,
and Chris Johnson singing backing vocals. The group recorded and mixed the record
at The Panhandle House Studios in Denton, Texas. Grammy-award winning engineer
Brad Blackwood at Euphonic Masters mastered the disc.
Dallas-born Walker learned to love music from late mother, who encouraged his
passion for the art. He wrote his first songs in elementary school and began
producing his own music when he attended Stephen F. Austin State University. He
was a featured artist during the first season of the television show, Troubadour, TX.
